Inspired by a Survivor’s Story

At a young age, immense responsibility was placed on Yuan Yuan to help provide for her poverty-stricken family. After unsuccessfully searching for work in the city, a rickshaw driver told her about an opportunity at a massage parlor. What seemed like hope quickly became a nightmare.

The massage parlor was only a cover.

Yuan Yuan was kidnapped and forced into prostitution, enduring years of violence, cruelty, and exploitation. Isolated and overwhelmed by depression, she began losing hope and even considered ending her life.

Then, in the middle of that darkness, she encountered an Outreach team.

For the first time in years, Yuan Yuan heard words of hope, rescue, and freedom. That chance meeting became the beginning of her escape and a turning point in her story.

Today, her courage continues to inspire us. Yuan Yuan’s journey is a powerful reminder that darkness does not have the final word—and that even the smallest light can break through unimaginable circumstances.

The Be Light Necklace was created in honor of stories like hers: stories of resilience, restoration, and the courage to begin again.
