Knots of Freedom Earrings
A Symbol of Courage, Perseverance, and Hope
The Knots of Freedom Earrings are inspired by Tho Tho’s extraordinary escape—a story of quiet determination, unbreakable courage, and hope built one small knot at a time.
As the eldest of seven children, Tho Tho carried the responsibility of helping support her family. When her mother fell ill and medical debt overwhelmed their household, a recruiter promised Tho Tho a good-paying factory job abroad. Believing she could help save her family, she left home with hope—only to discover she had been trafficked and sold into forced servitude.
Yet even in captivity, Tho Tho refused to give up.
Over the course of months, she secretly gathered scraps of cloth, twisting and tying them together into a rope of knots. Each knot represented patience. Each knot held determination. One night, while her captors slept, she fastened the rope to a balcony railing and carefully climbed down toward freedom—running through the darkness until she reached safety at a police station by dawn.
Tho Tho survived by fixing her eyes not on the suffering of each day, but on the possibility of escape. Knot by knot, she chose courage.
The knot-inspired design of these earrings reflects that journey of perseverance—reminding us that freedom is often built through small acts of bravery and unwavering hope.
Crafted in stainless steel or 18K gold-plated stainless steel, each pair is thoughtfully handcrafted by survivor artisans in Myanmar, women who are now rebuilding their lives through dignified work, restored hope, and renewed purpose.
Wear them as a reminder:
Freedom is often built one brave knot at a time.
